We frequently provided wedding flowers at the Hilton when Joanie Adams was the coordinator, these were our first weddings at the Hilton since she left for the Westin Harbour Island Hotel. All went well - the service staff were all still in place so no problems there - Seema and Mary did a great job on a busy weekend.
Here are photos of both weddings - we even moved the arch down to the ocean for one wedding as the sun was setting quickly and Stephen Rudd needed to take all the formals down by the water. Both weddings had the shell ceremony where all guests cast a shell into the Ocean wishing good luck for the bridal couple. We created some wonderful centerpieces and used hanging votives in one set of centerpieces - we think it turned out great. If you have an upcoming wedding at the Hilton please contact us.

Isla Del Sol Wedding - Flowers by For Better For Less Wedding Flowers

A new location for us and we were very impressed. We had read the Wedding Wire Reviews and were a little nervous - however, all went well and our Bride was very happy. We spoke with the Bride's parents after the event and they were very pleased - said the food and service were excellent and had good things to say about their coordinator Alan Skipper.

Rusty Pelican - Bridal Open House - Tuesday September 21st 2010

On Tuesday we had the pleasure of attending the Rusty Pelican Bridal Open House. If you were there then you know how wonderful it was - if you did not attend and still need help with your wedding you should plan to come to the next open house which should be sometime in early 2011.
There were as always lots of Brides, Great Vendors and Wonderful Food Supplied by the Rusty Pelican. Vendors included many of our favorites - DJ's included Eric Hardy, Frank Lebano and Downtown DJ's - Photographers included Stephen Rudd, Neil Shannon Photography and Photography by GMC - Cake Makers included Chantilly Cakes and a Piece of Cake - Other Vendors included Paper Players(Invitations), Tampa Calligraphy(Place Cards etc), Chocolates by Michelle (Dessert Chocolates and Fountains) - all linens were provided by Connie Duglin.
Many of the Brides we wowed with our Florals which were in the Coral Room - Don had chosen Black Table linen with Hot Pink Napkins so we used a selection of Hot Pink Flowers and lots of candles. We worked with the "feasting table" Don had provided - it was some 16 feet long and 5 feet wide. The three styles of floral centerpieces worked well together but each can be used as a centerpiece in their own right. The arrangement of three cylinder vases with submerged hot pink roses and floating candles is one of your most popular styles and is very cost effective. The tall centerpiece we used as ourt focal point was lit from below by LED's and featured black curly willow and an assortment of hot pink flowers and wonderful greenery - we would be delighted to supply these or a slightly smaller version for your wedding. Our third arrangement was a more traditional style in a 6 inch by 6 inch cylinder vase - this can also be scaled down to a 5 inch vase and made slighly lower so your guests on a regular round banquet table can see each other. We used our 5 inch cylinder vase with rose petals and three small floating candles - these really looked great and gave out wonderful light. There are also some photos showcasing our flowers at the open house and also centerpieces we provided for a recent wedding with a ceremony at St Andrew's Chapel in Dunedin and the reception at the Rusty Pelican.

Grand Plaza Hotel Wedding - Flowers by For Better For Less Wedding Flowers

This weekend we had the pleasure of visiting the Grand again - Kristi was our Bride's co-ordinator she was helped later by Cherish and Diana. Our Bride and Groom - Christine and Ryan were wonderful to work with and we enjoyed our time with them - they live locally in Riverview. Our two Bridesmaids were in beautiful spice colored dresses with a stunning white design which photographed beautifully - our choice of Leonardis and Orange Roses with accents of yellow Mini Calla and green Hypericum Berries really worked magnificently with this color. The Grand had done lots of work to its south beach ceremony site with all new palms and a new large Bamboo Arch - the Hotel's original Palms were affected by last winter's freeze - the replacements are larger and fuller than the originals and make a wonderful setting - clearly without question the best wedding ceremony site on the Beach from St Pete Beach north. You will see from our photos our weather was typical for a Florida Summers afternoon - cloudy with a chance or rain and quite warm.

We are a full service wedding Florist and stay with our Brides through their ceremony - wait for the wedding Photos to be taken and move the ceremony flowers to the Reception. We take photos from start to finish and feature them on our web site and blog.
We are amazed that many florist who claim to offer the same full service always seem to use photos from a professional photographer, it makes one wonder whether they stay with you through your ceremony, or for that matter are even present, relying on a delivery person to drop off the flowers and run. Professional flower photos are wonderful, but many times its hard to determine just what flowers you are looking at, they are so photo enhanced. In the last couple of weeks there have been a number of really bad weddings - in one the Florist delivered to the wrong venue and then refused to take them to the ceremony site and in the other all the flowers died as their cooler broke. While this could happen to anyone the mark of a professional is how the problem is handled. This weekend alone we saw two weddings where the groom's boutonniere was horizontal - making for great photographs - why the photographer did not fix the problem is a question - but they are photographers - where was the florist one should ask - problems do occur - how one reacts is the true test.

Rusty Pelican Bridal Open House - June 19th 2010

We had a great time today at the Rusty Pelican's Summer Open house. It was a really successful event - there we lots and lots of Brides and great vendors - as always the Rusty Pelican did a great job in planning and organizing eveything. Several Brides asked for photos of our table centerpieces so I thought I would put them on our blog so anyone could check them out.
Our Flowers were in the Grand Ballroom and Don had chosen a combination of teal and purple. We are seeing many Brides choose Purple - Plum shades for the fall - many of our spring Brides chose shades of blue - fall Brides seem to be favoring shades of Purple, Plum, Aubergine. Our linen was supplied by Connie Duglin Linen - the linens while beautiful are not an easy color combination to coordinate with.

Here are our three table set ups - the first and by far the most admired was our signature three cylinder vases with submerged orchids and floating candles - in this case we submerged blue dendrobium orchids - I mistakenly told several Brides that the current price of this arrangement was $40 - my wife corrected me it really is $45 - I am so sorry - It's still a great deal. In the background you can see our sweetheart table arrangement.

The arrangement on this sweeheart table was specially made for the show, normally we would use one of our gazebo florals on your table - about the same size and shape as the one in the photo, without the peacock feathers a little narrower without the drooping greenery but very similar - we believe our Brides should be abel to use their Gazebo decorations for their Reception

Our final centerpiece was again made for the show and was quite expensive at around $150 - using blue dendobium orchids, white anthuriums, purple lisianthus, green and white spider mums, white stock, green bells of ireland and some great greenery - the arrangement sat ou our 8 inch diameter cylinder vase which had snake grass, crystal beads and blue dendobium orchids - with the Peacock feathers this arrangement stands over 5 feet tall so is very impressive if a little expensive. The Rusty Pelican Ballroom really needs some height on the tables, evening weddings also need candles - a mix of tall and short works well and is easier on the budget. We can scale this arrangement to price in the $90's range if the quantity is there.

A lot of the vendors were people who we see and work with frequently - Frank Lebano and Hardy &Co both excellent DJ's.

Several of our favorite photographers were at the showStephen Rudd ,Neil Shannon Photography , Photography by Emanuele , Photography by GMC Photo Announce It . Each one of the photographers has a different style and personality - we recommend Brides to meet with a photographer and choose the one whose style and personality she likes best.

Two of our favortite wedding cake suppliers were also at the open house - A piece of Cake and Chantilly Cakes ,

as were two great Invitation companies - Tampa Calligraphy and Paper Players . Chose any of the above with confidence.

It has been some time since we posted photos to our Blog. Here are some from earlier in the year.

I will post some of the weddings later but I thought seeing our recent work would be interesting.
Note how many of our Brides this spring choose blue in all shades - it really is a great beach color.
The photos are from weddings in early April at the Clearwater Beach Hilton, The Rusty Pelican and the Grand Plaza. Our first wedding features our Chuppah - used in this wedding as a focal point in a non jewish event.

We have had a busy few weeks - with weddings at various locations throughout the Bay area.

From Mirror Lake Lyceum in downtown St Pete to the Home Place in Dover - the Rusty Pelican, Hilton Clearwater Beach, the Tradewinds, Grand Plaza, the Grand Hyatt, Timbergreens Country Club and the Teatro on Seventh Restaurant in Ybor City. While having the opportunity to work with some wonderful Brides, we are also blessed to be able to work with such varied flowers and great vendors. Here is an assortment of bouquets from these weddings. Blue shades have been very popular on the Beach so far this spring.

Grand Plaza Hotel Wedding - Flowers by For Better For Less Weddding Flowers

Our weddings at the Grand Plaza are always well orchestrated by the Hotel's Wedding Co-ordinators.

This week we had the pleasure of working with Elizabeth and Diana.

These were our first weddings of 2010 at the Hotel and we were delighted to see the new walkway from the pool down to the Beach. This makes it so much easier for the Bridal Party - no more steps to negotiate in wedding gowns and no more worries about the ring bearer and flower girls making the stairs.

One of the great things about the Grand is the staff and we were pleased to see all the same faces in the Banquet operation - a sure sign you will have great food service.

Our DJ for both weddings was Josh Lorenzo from Expert Disc Jockeys .

Our photographer on the 13th was from out of town and on the 17th we saw our old friends

Laura Chapin and her Husband.

We were blessed with good weather, still unseasonably cool but sunny and nice with great sunsets.

Our photos showase the new walkway - you can see how well it works. Our reception photos are from the Imperial Ballroom on the ground floor. Many Brides prefer the spectacular views from the Presidential Ballroom, but the Imperial offers a great outdoor setting for cocktails and no need for elevators.

Our wedding on the 17th was on North Beach and we were surprised by the new Palm Trees (the bad winter had hurt no almost killed the existing palms which form the backdrop to many weddings).

These had just been put in so we needed to arrange the sand around them into a nice circle and then add our flowers to them. We spent some time making a large heart in the sand for our Bride and Groom to stand in and I think the photos show how effective this is.

All in all we were delighted to be back at the Grand and look forward to working with them for the rest of the year.

This weekend have two weddings at the Hilton on Clearwater Beach our favorite venue on beautiful Clearwater Beach. Many thanks to Joanie Adams of the Resort for recommending us to her Brides. Our weather was still a little cold and blustery but both weddings took place in the sun and on the beach, however the reception on Thursday evening moved inside. Saturday Morning was a little less windy so the luncheon was on the deck.
On Thursday we had the pleasure of working with DJ, Frank Lebano , our photographer for the evening was the incomparable Stephen Rudd . On Saturday we worked with Stephen again and our DJ was Rob Volmar from Grant Hemond. Here are some photos.

Lange Farm Wedding - Flowers by For Better For Less Wedding Flowers

Our wedding this afternoon was at Lange Farm - our favorite wedding venue not on the water.

The weather for Erin and Dylan was beautiful - without question the nicest day so far in 2010.

We love going to Lange Farm - its so romantic, peaceful and beautiful - today's Minister said he had never been to Lange Farm before but he was so impressed he was going to refer his Brides. Our Wedding Coordinator from Lange Farm was Lesa Summerall - she is an outstanding planner and our Brides just love working with her. Our DJ, Craig Hemond is another of Grant Hemond's talented associates, a full sit down dinner and reception was provided by Catering by the Family.

You will see from our photographs that Erin made a wonderful, beautiful Bride, her happiness on this her special day shines through all her photos. Her Bridesmaids wore black dresses so we were happy we had some really colorful bouquets - the Groomsmen had black shirts so the colorful boutonnieres also worked well.

Erin and her Parents were truly wonderful to work with in planning her flowers and we can't thank them enough for allowing us to be part of their wondeful celebration of love.

Wedding Flowers- Our Lady of Peace and Catches Restaurant

Many of our Brides are on a tight budget and look to me to design wedding flowers that are good value for money and have good color, size and texture - this is not an easy task but our wedding on February 27th shows what can be done. We used white hydrangea and dendrobium orchids of different colors and some white roses. The white roses were in the Brides Bouquet the Brides Throw

Bouquet (complimentary) and the Groom's Boutonniere. Delivery and Tax were extra.

we make ours in a bouquet holder so they have better shape and a water source

There were three of these and each cost $35 in February 2010

Two Moms had corsages - these were $20 each.

We use magnets for shoulder corsages so no damage to dresses.

We really like to use the blush orchids for corsages.

Our reception was at Catches Restaurant

overlooking the Cotee River in Port Richey

Great View and Great food.

We collect a lot of our own shells, those we buy come from

Shell Horizons in Clearwater.

Sirata Beach Resort Wedding - Flowers by For Better For Less Wedding Flowers

Many Brides ask what a Full Service Florist does - here is a detailed account of a recent wedding, read it and you will see what we do - make sure you ask your florist if they do ALL this BEFORE you book them, you will then see who is really full service and who is a drop and run florist (they are the ones you don't want to use).

Our wedding at the Sirata was at a new location - Mid Beach (normally the two beach locations are South Beach by Rum Runners and North Beach). This location is more private than South Beach and in the warmer weather you can have an outside reception on the Breezeway Deck. Unfortunately the weather for Jennifer and Ryan was a little too cold so the reception was moved to the 8th floor - Royal Palm Ballroom with its specatular views. Sunny and cold, a neary full moon and a wonderful sunset made for a great setting if a little cool.

As a full service wedding florist we arrived early so we could deliver flowers for Jennifer's hair, then we were off to the Beach to add flowers to the Sirata's arch - first thing we did was to remove the table cloth from the base and cover it and the sand bags with fresh brushed sand - it looks so much better. We added flowers and star fish to the aisle chairs (there were more rows than expected so we added 4 extra star fish so every row had decoration). We had enough time to brush the sand in front of the arch and draw a large heart and then brushed the sand level down the aisle to the sand dune, so Jennifer and Ryan's guests would have a nice clean smooth surface to walk on.

Now we were off to pin on all the guys boutonnieres in Ryan's room - We have already seen today's photographer, Todd Gilman of Event Photography - we have known Todd for several years and he is a great photographer. We needed an extra boutonniere for the second ring bearer (2 years old), so we made a small boutonniere for him - free and there and then.

Now back to Jennifers room to check on the Bride and her Bridemaids and put the petals in the flower girls basket. We also found Jennifer's Mom and Dad here so we put their flowers on them.

We had flower centerpieces for Jennifers reception so we went to put them on the tables and while doing so saw Desiree from Chantilly Cakes setting up the wedding cake - we see her all over. A voice from the floor asked who had that strange accent and we found our DJ for the Day, Doug Decker from Grant Hemmond, another vendor we see regularly. We are now getting close to cermony time so its down for a last minute check to make sure the arch flowers are still in good shape as it was very windy - here we see today's officiant the Reverend Tom Greene - who we see everywhere on the Beach. Eveything is fine so back to the Brides room to bring down the flowers and give the Bride and her Bridesmaids advice as how to hold the their bouquets - one Bridesmaid is still to dress, she had made up all the others and now was getting ready herself. Down with the flowers and talk to Lisa, one of the Sirata's wedding coordinators ( Stacy is the other and both are excellent) and let her know the girls are runninga little late. The girls arrive and the ceremony starts - stay with the Bride and show her how to hold her bouquet. A beautiful ceremony and now its a dash to get the formal wedding photos taken before the light goes. Ask Todd if he would like me to turn the arch flowers around so he wouldnt have to shoot into the setting sun ( all the venues have the Bride and Groom with their backs to the water for the ceremony - so the guests have a great view of them and the Ocean), he can't believe a Florist would do this and is very happy, estactic really as this makes his job so much easier. Todd takes some great photos, its chilly so he moves quickly and the sun is setting fast, all the Bridal party except for the Bride and Groom leave and they go to the Watersedge for some great sunset photos. We take all the ceremony flowers up to the Ballroom and use them to decorate the sign in table, bridal table and the buffet.

Down to take our palms and star fish off the beach - Todd is still photographing Jennifer and Ryan, now of the Dunes for some great night shots - said Congratulations and Good Night to them and remind Jennifer that all the flowers are hers to take home (vases too) and to make sure someone does.

We wish Jennifer and Ryan every happiness for the future and a long and happy life together and thank them for allowing us to be part of their wedding celebration.

What a beautiful day for a wedding, picture perfect sunny Florida winters day. Our Bride and Groom

Laura and Aaron were blessed with perfect weather for their wedding ceremony at the Rusty Pelican Gazebo

Our Gazebo Flowers were Gerbera

Daisy and Dutch Tulips.

Her Bridesmaids dresses were in pastel shades and they carried hand tied bouquets of fresh tulip.

Laura's reception was held in the Grand Ballroom and featured three

styles of floral centerpieces - two using tulips and one using gerbera

daisy and fresh mandarin oranges.

Her tulips were flown in from Holland and came in five colors.

St. Pete Beach Wedding Flowers

We are a full service Wedding Florist and part of our service is to deliver your flowers, pin on all boutonnieres and corsages, set up your ceremony flowers and make sure all your flowers are perfect and in the right place at the right time. We do not like to drop and run as many Florists do, we feel if we are deliverying your wedding flowers we should stay and pin on make sure eveything is perfect. However, some Brides do not want us to do this and have friends who can pin on and look after the flowers, we are delighted to work with them, and do so on a regular basis.
Today we had a Bride who was marrying on St. Petersburg Beach with a reception at the Tradewinds who asked we design her wedding flowers with her picking them up from our workshop, we were very happy to help. As it happened we had a wedding at the Rusty Pelican and were able to take her flowers with us and have them picked up from there - a win win for all as she had a much shorter journey.
This was quite a large wedding party - nine Bridesmaid and nine groomsmen - here are photos of the Brides Bouquet and those for her Bridesmaids. We made some very nice boutonnieres for the Groom and his guys.

Todays weather was the best in a long time and our Bride and Groom, Sally and Mike Rosendale, were delighted to have such a pleasant evening for their wedding at the Gazebo, as Mike said - "the best weather in Months". Sara was accompanied by a Maid of Honor and four Bridesmaids and Mike by his Best Man and Four Groomsmen. Sally had chosen some great vendors - her photographer was Neil of Neil and Shannon - we see Neil often and he is a wonderful person - excellent with our Brides, Frank Lebano was her DJ - like Neil we see Frank all over the Bay area - he to is outstanding, Sally chose Cakes by Nomeda to design her wedding cake - just look at the photo to see how great it looks. Dinner was served in the Grand Ballroom and as always the banquet service staff at the Rusty Pelican led by Norma excelled. Here are some photos we took of the flowers I designed for Sally and Mike. Today we will be visiting the Rusty Pelican for the wedding of Amanda Hill and Chris Dillinger - we hope the weather improves so they can be married outside at the Gazebo. The weather did improve and Amanda and Chris were married outside at the Rusty Pelican Gazebo by Pastor Jerry. It was a little cold and somewhat windy, Amanda wore a beautiful full length wedding cape, not something often seen in Florida but stunning and so practical for the cooler weather. Their reception was in the Tampa Room and we provided floating candle centerpieces with submerged orchids surrounded by smaller floating candles - a very nice and cost effective centerpiece. Amanada's teardrop (a cascade has a much longer tail) bouquet and those of her Matron of Honor were a mixture of white orchids, siberian lily accented by blue delphinium - Chris's boutonniere was a small white rose accented with blue delphinium backed by salal leaf. We wish Amanda and Chris a long and happ marriage and appreciate their confidence in us to provide their wedding flowers.

Rusty Pelican Tampa Weddings - Flowers by For Better For Less

Today we had the pleasure of Providing Wedding Flowers at the Rusty Pelican Tampa for Heather and Rich Gunagan. The weather was not good so the Ceremony was moved inside the Ballroom. We took our bad weather equipment with us and were able to set up a nice background using the flowers we would have used on the Gazebo. Heather's flowers were all Gerbera Daisy - in Orange, Yellow and Hot Pink. Her Bridesmaids were in soft yellow and had hand tied bouquets with Orange Gerbera which looked wonderful against their dresses. The Groom wore a yellow Gerbera Daisy Boutonniere and his groomsmen orange ones.

Our centerpieces were mixed Gerbera and Hydgangea in clear glass vases.

We also provided some Gerbera for the Wedding Cake and the Brides Toss Bouquet.

Congratulations to Heather and Rich and many thanks for allowing us to be part of your very special day.
